Guido Guerrieri is a successful, brilliant, and deeply restless lawyer. He approaches every case as a personal matter, constantly questioning rules and certainties: empathy is his strength, but also his greatest vulnerability. Passionate about boxing and nostalgic for the lost love of his wife Sara, from whom he is separating, Guerrieri—played by Alessandro Gassmann—is the protagonist of the four‑episode series Guerrieri – The Rule of Balance, co‑produced by Rai Fiction, Rai Com, Combo International, and Bartlebyfilm, airing from Monday, March 9 at 9:30 PM in prime time on Rai 1. Directed by Gianluca Maria Tavarelli, the series is freely adapted from the novels Reasonable Doubts and Temporary Perfections (Sellerio Editore) and The Rule of Balance (Giulio Einaudi Editore) by Gianrico Carofiglio, who also serves as screenwriter. Set in an unusual, often nocturnal Bari, lawyer Guerrieri tackles the cases at the heart of his brilliant courtroom defenses with sharp insight, sensitivity, and rhetorical skill: a client emerging like a ghost from his past, the mysterious disappearance of a young woman, the murder of a biology researcher, and the troubling case of an old friend—Judge Larocca, a respected magistrate accused of corruption. Supporting him through these challenges are the trusted and skilled police inspector Carmelo Tancredi (Michele Venitucci); Annapaola (Ivana Lotito), a former crime reporter turned bold private investigator; Consuelo (Lea Gavino), a talented trainee at Guerrieri’s firm; and the new intern Toni (Michele Ragno), pathologically absent‑minded yet unpredictable and brilliant.
